What is your institution? UW-Whitewater
What do you teach? Chemistry currently
How long have you used POGIL? Since 2010
What was your "AHA" POGIL moment? When a chance grouping at a POGIL workshop got me my first teaching position. And then attending Facilitator's Training Workshop.
What do you wish you had known when you first started using POGIL? Use the roles. Go with the flow-- learning is a journey and it is better for the student if you are by their side. But it is more emotionally challenging for you--- that is okay.
What would you like to see The POGIL Project accomplish in the next 20 years? Continue to grow, and become even easier to implement in the classroom.
What does the POGIL community mean to you? Everything. I get my energy from any group that connects with the POGIL Community. Using POGIL in my classrooms and learning to become a facilitator for POGIL workshops also helped honed my skills that I now use as an administrator. POGIL was my rock when shifts were happening at my institution that were unnerving. And POGIL gave me opportunities for growth and leadership my institution was unable to provide.
